Who is Elli Cares for?
While our focus with Elli Cares is to support independent living for people with cognitive impairment while providing peace of mind for their families, Elli Cares can be used by anyone who needs extra support in managing their day-to-day or who might need to give visibility to family members or caregivers that they are managing okay.
Elli Cares can help support people with:
- Early to mid-stage dementia
- MCI (mild cognitive impairment)
- TBI (Traumatic brain injury)
- Autism
Signing up to Elli Cares
If you are signing up to Elli Cares with a family member or loved one. Please sign up one at a time, this will ensure that a user will be created and then the second user can be connected to them in the app.
Help Support Me
Select 'Help Support Me' if you are the person that needs support. You can add a family member after this if you wish, or you can continue to use the app alone, and if you want, add a family member later. If you want to add a family member you simply 'invite' them when prompted. This will open your contacts where you can then select your family member. Once you invite them, they will receive a SMS message to download and sign up to the app. The 'invite' step ensures the two of you are linked within the app.

Support a Loved One
If you are a family member signing up to help support a loved one, select 'Help Support a Loved One'. After this, you'll be able to invite your loved one to the app by selecting them out of your contacts list. This step is important in connecting the two of you in the app. Once they download and sign up to the app you'll be connected.
We've had feedback that our signup journey has a few problems - we are working on fixing these issues, please bear with us! In the meantime, if you do have issues signing up and connecting with someone please let us know and we can get that sorted ASAP.

Can I use Elli Cares independently to support my independence?
Yes, absolutely! You can download and use Elli Cares as a single user. Choose the 'Manage my own health' option when signing up. Later, if you wish to do so, you can add a family member or caregiver.
Can the app connect multiple family members to a person with cognitive impairment?
We are working on this and will soon enable multiple family members to connect to their Loved ones within the Elli Cares app. Give us a message if you'd like this feature hurried up at hello@elliapp.co
How do reminders work?
Reminders and Safe Zones can be set by a family member or the person with cognitive impairment. The person with cognitive impairment will receive push notifications when their reminders (tasks, appointments or medications) are due. The notifications will present the information required to complete the task and request that they confirm these have been completed. If a reminder is not marked as complete within the hour, and family members are connected, they will receive a notification that the reminder has yet to be actioned on.
How do safe zones work?
Both family members and the person living with cognitive impairment can set 'Safe Zones'; these are areas the person with cognitive impairment frequents. When the person with cognitive impairment moves outside of their safe zones, they'll receive a notification checking to see if they ok, with options to call a family member or to find their way home - if that's what they need.
Family members within the app will receive a notification too - letting them know their loved one has moved outside of their safe zone.
How does battery status work?
Family members connected to their loved one living with cognitive impairment will have visibility of the status of their loved one's mobile phone. On the app dashboard, they can see whether their loved one has gone offline or their battery level is low.
Upcoming features
We have a bunch of additional features we are working on for future versions of elli including: medication refill reminders, emergency communication and behavioural pattern monitoring to alert for unusual behaviour.
